It does not do this any better than the one I replaced. Dishes still need to be pre-rinsed, and pots and pans will probably not get clean if they are the least bit caked with cooking residue. In its favor, the Maytag is QUIET. It can barely be heard when running. An occasional swish of water and the lights on the panel are the only indication that it's in use. As apparently is the case with all these dishwashers, the unique elbow required to hook up the water source was missing which made a trip to Home Depot necessary before it could be installed. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful  A great buy, good cleaning power, By This review is from: Jetclean Undercounter Dishwasher 100% Stainless Steel Tub Interior Auto Clean Plus Cycle 14 Place Setting Capacity White I needed, yet again, to replace my dishwasher. Second one in 10 years. Why? The first, the builder's "special" was perfectly functional, if basic, but it had a recall for a fire hazard (if you used JetDry in the dispenser, it could drip into the wiring and cause a fire.) Out it went. Fires are no joke. I replaced it with an Akso dishwasher that was very quiet, but had Swedish quirks--sometimes it would clean, sometimes it would not. Eventually, the pump failed and I had learned, over the years, that replacing, sadly, is less expensive than repairing. This is not great for the landfill, but I suspect the guy that hauled mine away will be tinkering with it and perhaps find a place for it.It's hard to find all the features you might want in one model, and I have the antiquated habit of using WHITE appliances, which these days, limits the models you can choose. I didn't want to spend a ton of money, but wanted something that worked better than a builder's grade dishwasher. I think this is a great dishwasher for the money. It's VERY quiet. It also cleans fairly well...I now can put most of my dishes in without rinsing and they come out clean. I still have to test if it will clean dried oatmeal...if it does that then it is well worth the $400 I spent. All in all a really good dishwasher. |
