If it is installed under a counter (the way it would be in most kitchens), moisture that accumulates on the control panel will cause it to stop working after about a 12-18 months. This has now happened to our model TWICE (as well as to other reviewers here.)So, one is either forced to buy the extended warranty or to pay expensive repair bills. Either way, you can expect this product to break down. I suspect that all models have similar profiles of performance, but take this as you will considering whether it will apply to the model you want. I have had Maytag dishwashers in black and almond. (And have owned GE and Kitchen Aid also.) As another reviewer has said the control panel goes belly up sooner or later-- in my experience, it's 3-5 years from purchase that one thing or the other is going to go. The cost to replace the control panel, which can have one function go out or the whole panel go completely nuts overnight, is a good chunk of what it costs to replace the unit. I installed it myself and only had to make one run to Home Depot. My supply line did not have the same connection as the dishwasher. Home Depot carries a unversal supply line and it includes the specific attachment for the Maytag units. It is more like a hose attachment instead of a compression fitting. I removed the old copper line and replaced with a flex line. |
